Stress awareness week

Wnere does stress show up in your body ?

Lying on the floor is a great opportunity to let go of that uncomfortable tension that we can accumulate. Tight muscles release as we take our support from the floor and our heart rate can slow along with the breath. Blood pressure can lower too 😊

If you’re feeling tense today this floor twist might be nice to try

The most difficult part of this exercise will be dedicating a few minutes of time to yourself  ✨

Find a comfortable carpet, rug (or yoga mat) to lie down on, knees bent and feet standing hip with distance apart. Use a small cushion under your head if it feels more comfortable

Spend a few moments enjoying the support of the floor and allowing your weight to settle and sink

Fold your legs towards you and hold onto them, letting the back of your waist rest into the floor

Spread your arms out to the side and slowly lower your knees towards the floor on one side (you can use the support of an arm if needed). Keep the legs fairly close to your chest if you can and if they don’t meet the floor easily you can fill the space with a cushion.

Rest here, settle your shoulders and have a few breaths, relaxing into the floor with each out breath.

Repeat to the other side.

Come back to the centre, have a few cycles of breath and notice how you feel. Welcome in any sensations of melting, softening or sinking that you feel in your body 😊
